Family Time

Ok I know this is going to sound crazy, but…Christmas is just around the corner. I know. I know. I am WAY jumping the gun on this one, but hear me out. First: I am SO into Christmas. It is seriously my favorite time of the year. (As in-it is a yearly battle as to when Christmas decorations can go up in our house. I have convinced myself that October is the perfect time to start dragging out Christmas decorations.) Secondly and more the reason why I write this blog. We see a spike in the fall for family portraits. Most people are wanting to get their pictures ready for Christmas cards. (Which I think is awesome. Ellen and I keep the picture-cards we get up all year long.) The trend we see is that it is difficult in the fall to get the family together. I know it is hot outside, but the summer time is the best time to get the family together. Kids are usually home from college, sports are a little less demanding, school is definitely less demanding, and everyone has a nice little tan going on. Except the men. For some reason our sockline-tshirt-tan is apparently nonexistent in our eyes because everyone notices except us…

So with that said: yes it is too early to start thinking about decorating for Christmas, yes it is too early to start buying Christmas gifts (unless you are my step-mom, Pam, who has to stay ahead with Christmas since there are 12 kids to buy for and most of them with families and grandbabies), but no it is not to early to get your family portraits scheduled. Even if you are still wanting to do your portraits in the fall-its still a good idea to get them scheduled. I know my photog friends are already booking into the fall. We have already started booking in the new year. So get your appointments booked. I promise, it is okay to plan this far ahead for Christmas card family portraits. I hope you choose Randy Olive Photography for yours. Email us to book! (randy.olive@randyolive.com)
